Finding a wheelchair accessible van to rent to get around town for doctors appointments, family outings, or out-of-town trips is close to impossible. I know this for a fact, I depend on one myself.
Hoping public transportation would show up on time (or even show up at all) was far too stressful and made me miss too many outings, so I did something about it. There are too many fun things to do in Austin. I’m getting my own ride!
Look below for pictures of Shelby. Shelby is a 2020 Chrysler Pacifica with a Braunability conversion. And she’s a beauty! When I first saw Shelby back on the showroom floor, I knew she was my ticket to freedom.
And while Shelby has made my life so much easier and more fun, the reality is, I don’t need her that much because I work from home.
Knowing how difficult it is to get around town with a wheelchair and knowing that Shelby was sitting in the garage with only 10,000 miles… I said this is nonsense. Other people need Shelby.

Shelby wants, no, Shelby NEEDS more friends. I cannot tell you how many people have told me that they can never find wheelchair accessible transportation in Austin to help them get around and just live a full life. That’s what we all want, right?
I am committed to finding more friends for Shelby if the demand exists. And I truly feel that it does. So please, if you don’t need Shelby but you know somebody who does, send them this site. Let them know that this service is now available in Austin for people that truly need it.
